So remember yesterday when I said I had three stories to tell on day one, well day two is one of those other stories and I'm totally okay with that. We always get our tree Thanksgiving weekend and I always put the story in December Daily® so in it goes even though it didn't happen yesterday.
You can read the full journaling of the day down below but it was kind of serendipitous that this tree stand had mistletoe for sale, I must have remembered that super cute mistletoe card that came in the Studio Calico Christmas card set so I snapped this photo. It wasn't until yesterday going thru my supplies that I saw it. I added a few of the tissue paper confetti that came in Ali's kit to mimic the bokeh on the card layered my small photo on top with foam tape. I made this photo black and white because the colors competed too much and I liked how the black and white played on the grey card.
Just a little back story to share, I'm having issues with my camera battery, it keeps dying really quickly when it used to last for months. I think its just old and tired since its the original battery that came with the camera. So when we pulled up to the first tree stand and I went to shoot my battery was completely dead. I had to use my phone for all of the photos and they aren't as great as I would have liked but I'm still happy with what I shot. I decided to make a little book to open to hold the journaling and another photo and mounted it all on top of a Cosmo Cricket vellum envelope. I love the little gold stars peeking out. I added more tissue confetti and mounted my veneer 2 on top. The little tab stickers from Ali's kit were perfect to announce that this opens up.
The word art on the photo is from my friend Jen Kinkade. She has an Etsy store and you can see the set here. Its the perfect word art set for this project and I have big plans for the Merry & Bright. Plus her work is amazing and I just love having a bit of her in my album. The piece on the right is from a printable set Geralyn designed for Studio Calico this month, you can find it in their digital shop. I just modified the shape and colors to work with my space and theme. It was the perfect place to journal about our tree purchase.
I love how the mistletoe piece looks when its laying on top of day one as you can see here. Its always such a surprise when unexpected things like this happen and I really love that about making mini albums. You can also see the ribbon that wraps around the front cover. I need to finish that off and make it look a bit prettier.
So that's day two (really day one but who cares).
See you soon,
