Project Life 2013 - weeek 12

Luckily for us here in California, spring has sprung!  I feel bad for those that are still knee deep in snow but I know you'll catch up to us really soon.  We had a glorious day this past weekend so quite a few pictures made it in this weeks spread.

While sitting in the driveway (in the passenger seat) before we headed out shopping I asked Simone to take some pictures, her funny responses provided these shots.  She is such a ham!  She had an Egg Hunt at preschool last Friday so I snapped a few pics of that since the parents weren't invited to attend (dislike!). I've been hanging on to the wood veneer hello card for awhile and needed to fill a hole and it was perfect to document the first day of spring.  The whole bottom half is from this past Sunday.  I can't believe Simone braved the cool water temps but she did it, more than once too.  The split photo is from a new template set that I just got, lots of cool ones are included if you are looking for some good small size templates.

Here is the left side.  I was playing around with some watercolors and decided to use the piece I made as my title card.  You can see it closer down below.  I stitched the border and underline with some neon pink embroidery floss and added some woodgrain thickers.  The rest is just little bits from the week; new fresh hair for me, a new photo editing program that I downloaded and love (and used on several of this weeks photos), some yummy dessert at a nice dinner out with family, a photoless story that I wanted to capture, an awesome deal on some shoes, some fro yo, a birthday party, conquering a fear, TV for her and TV for all of us.

Here is the closer look at the watercolor and stitching.  The watercolor set I used was this one from Target, it gives really descent color but I'm still contemplating these, because they're just so cool.

I hope you all have a lovely week, Simone is on Spring Break so were trying to keep her busy as best we can.  At least the weather is cooperating for us again this week!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. If you are looking for an editing program RadLab is amazing and its on sale right now, 40% off and will be thru the end of this week.  I also used the code 'totallyrad' and got an additional 15% off.  Here is a link if you need one (FYI, this is not an affiliate link, I get nothing for posting it).  I had some issues getting it to run on my Photoshop Elements 9.0 but once I got it straightened out its working great.

Coconut Cheesecake - Revised

Last year around this time I made my Coconut Cheesecake for St. Patrick's Day, well I made it again this year but I tweaked the recipe just a bit.

It came out really good again and honestly I think both versions are good but this one has a plain graham cracker crust and I upped the amount of cream cheese by one and used only coconut milk instead of that and sour cream.

Here's a photo of the original

and this years version, not much visible difference.

Here are the two recipe versions for you; the original and the newer.

I hope you love it whichever version you make.

Project Life 2013 - week 11

Spring is springing here so lots of happy sunny days lately and lots of time outside.

Here is the full spread

Here is the left side up close, used a few more Studio Calico cards, the good times card was from February's kit I believe, the other three are March.

Here is the right side, a lovely picture of the sun that shined on us all week and gave us a nice taste of things to come.  Simone picked me a flower, hanging with this guy and Larry's bike is progressing nicely.  I love printing right on the Studio Calico cards, once you get the hang of it, it's super easy.

I added a simple insert for St. Patrick's Day its one of the Studio Calico Handbook inserts.  The two cards are from the March kit.  We had so much fun prepping for a potential Leprechaun visit.

Here is the back side.

Simone brought home this cute little book she made at preschool that I slipped into another sleeve, but she keeps stealing it back from me, so I'm not sure if it will actually stay in here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Project Life 20 - week 10

So much fun this week, it took forever but hey its all good if you're having fun right!

Here is the full spread

On the left side I included a two photos from mom's last day and some words about our day at the mall.  Simone got a new bike!  So much easier for her to ride without her knees touching the handle bars.  A few blooms still holding on but it won't be long now before they're gone.  A few of Simone's latest play time fun and my basket from an errand day.

I also included an insert this week.  I opted to make it a 11 x 8.5 landscape insert mainly because of the drawing that's on the back side.  I've ordered the landscape protectors from Amazon so I'm just waiting to receive them.

We had a really nice day this past Sunday and really enjoyed some time outside.  The main spread had a lot of green and yellow so I looked for a paper that would tie in and also grabbed this new Dear Lizzy die cut piece and a sticker from Amy Tangerine's Yes Please line.  It evolved from there into this.

I stitched a little, and I went a bit crazy with enamel dots.

I embossed the geotag with clear embossing powder and it gave it a nice little sheen.

After our hike we went to lunch and after playing all the games on the front of the kids menu she drew this on the back of it.  It was her version of the trail map with us on it and I love that she got me at the rear holding my phone.

Here is the right side of the page.  The base of the title card is from the Studio Calico March kit and I used some stickers from Amy Tangerine's new Yes Please line as well as her calendar stamp.  The green card to the left is also from the March Studio Calico kit.  I just ran it through my printer to add the first and third lines of text.  It already said 'favorite.'  We are having some really awesome weather so that warranted a slot.  The Currents card came from Life Love Paper, the To the Moon and Back is from the February Studio Calico kit and I love the photo next to it of Simone.  I'm definitely a sucker for anything Limited Edition especially holiday food so you better believe I snatched up two boxes of the Lucky Charms all Clovers cereal.  Lunch out, one of the school pictures of Simone that I purchased.  This flips up and I have the class photo and all the names of her classmates.  A day out with a friend and a little weekly recap.

Phew!  What a week!  I played way more than normal and was happy to take my time.  Some things I used and some I didn't but it was fun.

Thanks for stopping by.

Project Life 2013 - week 9

Another week in the can so to speak.  This was the first week in a really long time that I didn't have a ton of photos to work with.  My mom was visiting and I didn't have one of her to include, not sure how that happened but I'm pretty bummed.  I did grab a cute one of her on Monday so at least she'll be in there next week.  I guess I just wasn't grabbing the camera this past week as much as I normally do.

Here is the full spread

We did manage to sneak in a salon day with Grandma and Simone was treated like a queen!  We did watch a lot of movies with Mom and this one was a great one.  Lots of girl time and lots of shopping and guess who decided to try on every pair of shoes at the store, especially the really high hot pink ones!  One day while it was just mom and me I called the house and guess who answered, I have no idea where she learned this but loved it so very much.  Larry bagging wine with Mark one day.  A very expensive trip to stock up.  A pretty new dress that matches her favorite Barbie Pop Star.  While Grandma was visiting she attended a special party for some old friends.  She brought home a CD of Hawaiian music from the band that performed and guess who decided to dig out her skirt, lei and top and put on a little hula show Sunday night.

Some favorite bits from the week on the right side.  Simone wanted to learn to skate board and we still have Matthew's old one so she gave it a try.  Strawberries and cheerios, so tasty.  The trees all over town are in full bloom and I'm loving every minute of it.  A belated birthday dinner, filling my time watching season two of Downton on my ipad because I miss it so.  Simone sneaking a sniff of a cake Daddy made and a certain doctor's birthday!

I hope to resume my crafty ways next week, so thanks for stopping by.
