Featuring Kelly Purkey Shop │ May Shop Update

Hello, hello, hello! I hope you are all doing well! Today was the Kelly Purkey shop update and its a big one filled with plenty of stamps and kits to help you document your summer travels. I made three projects this month and can't wait to share them with you.

Note: This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using the links below. There is no additional cost to you if you use these links.

The first is a pocket page spread that I made using stamps, cards and papers from the Departure Kit,  the Travel Numbers kit and the Travelogue Mini Kit. As well as stamps from the Travel Words, Aloha, and the Rio Alpha stamp set.

This pocket page spread will slip into my normal album so its just the high points of the trip. I love how bright and colorful it is and it makes me want to book another trip pronto and I could not love the little airplane window stamp on my title card any more! That stamp is in the Travelogue Mini kit.

My second project was made using just the Travel Numbers travelers notebook kit. I always love keeping track of my vacation stats so this kit was a fun one to use. I loved the grid pages and they are perfect for quick and easy spreads in TN's that you can add photos and some stamping and be good to go.

My third project is another Travelers Notebook spread. I mixed papers from the Travel Numbers kit and the Travelogue mini kit as well as stamps from the Making Magic set and the Travel Words set. I love anything to do with Disney and this stamp set was perfect for a quick and easy spread about the rides we rode on our most recent trip. The little ear hats are so cute. I filled the center circle with enamel dots that matched the ink colors I used and I love that little bit of texture.

Kelly also added in some fun little Swag Bags to the shop this month. I can't wait for mine to arrive. I loved grab bags when I was a kid and these have that kind of vibe. There are two one is called Ciao and its a more international themed bag and the other is called Checked In is a travel themed bag, so cute!

This is Ciao

This is Checked In

I hope you enjoyed the release and have lots of fun travel plans made for the summer! We can't wait for warm days and adventures around here!

Take care,

Featuring Studio Calico │ Bright Side May 2019

The Studio Calico May Bright Side kits went live yesterday so I wanted to share the projects I made with the kits. The kits had the most beautiful colors this month and the embellishments were super bright and happy which is just what you would want for this time of year.

First I will share the projects I made using the Travelers Notebook kit, I made two and I love them both. This first layout was made using just the Bright Side travelers notebook kit. I loved the teal blue page and knew that it would make the blue drink in the photo of my daughter pop and it definitely did. I just love all the little rainbow embellishments and stickers that have been in the kits lately. It takes me back to the time when I was my daughters age, they were popular back then too and it makes me super happy to see them back again.

The second project was made using the Bright Side Travelers Notebook kit and the Stamp Subscription. I loved all of the sentiment stamps in the stamp set and decided to bend and curve them around the arch of the rainbow and it was a super fun way to get in a lot of stamping. I used four shades of color theory ink that corresponded to the colors of the rainbow so it would blend in but still stand out.

I made two spreads using the Bright Side Documenter Kit only and here is the first spread that covers part of the month including Mothers Day. I love that pop of yellow on this spread.

The second spread covers more of the day to day kind of moments from the month. Lots of orange and peach and bits of green.

I don't know if I have discussed this but my approach for my pocket page spreads has been super loose and unrestricted and I'm super happy about it. I don't worry about dating my spreads and I'm definitely not placing the photos in date order. I've been trying to make at least two spreads per month and when I pull my photos I then sit down and decide what photos will go on what spread. I typically look for similar color stories or similar photos that would look good together. I also pay attention to any events that need more space. On occasion I will date the journaling if it happened on a specific day that I want to mark but other than that I don't date anything. Its all from that month so I don't feel it needs a date and it doesn't need to be in order. I tell you, it has been liberating taking that rigidity out of the equation and I definitely recommend it. And when I say rigidity that idea was totally self imposed and no one is telling me I'm doing it wrong, its just for years I put everything in date order because I thought it had to be and now that I removed that requirement its been nice.

I hope you enjoyed the release, its was so bright and fun and I think you will love your kits when they arrive.

Take care,
Barbara
