Project Life - Week 34

Monday was project day around here, my mom is visiting so we've been pretty busy the past few days sorry I didn't have a regular post up.  It took most of the day to get this weeks spread done, minus some time to have lunch and run a few errands.

Here is a look at the whole spread

and the left side

Studio Calico reveal was on Monday and the background for this slot was one of the brush files they offered.  I didn't buy the kit that had that stamp but love that they offered the file as a brush.  The hello card was also one of the digital offerings.

I think summer swimming might be winding down here, I do hope for at least one more swim weekend this year, my tan could use a late summer boost!  I think she'll miss it just as much if not more than me.

Our kitchen table is right in the line of sight of the evening sun making it necessary to wear sunglasses inside while eating ice cream.

A snapshot of the new editions of Project Life that will be out later this year.  I love both, they are so amazing.

Simone practicing her name writing in some salt at school.  She's doing so well!

A little drama in the waiting room of the doctor last week, crazy!

Simone's bedroom is being transformed and it all started this past Monday.  Larry painted and we bought her a new bed.  She's super excited and it's looking really great.  We're not done yet, a few more projects to finish still.

Grandma arrived and was put right to work!  Happiness Right Here is from the amazing Kelly Purkey.

Here is the right side.

Some cute shots from her first night in the big bed.

Larry and I had a chance for a little overnight while Mom is here to watch Simone for us.  We had a great time!

A little tweet message and some love for the Starbucks Refreshers.

Grandma showing Simone around a sewing machine and some prep for this cool project that starts up in September.

We finally made it to a River Cats game and we had a blast.  What a great park, so much fun!

Having a mom that's wicked talented with a sewing machine is super awesome!

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you back soon!

Project Life - Week 33

Plugging along, as usual.  Lots to include this week, the last bits of the Olympics, the last few days with family in town and the last few days of summer.  I cannot believe we are already approaching the end of August.

Here's a look at the whole spread

and the left side

I had to use this new washi from My Minds Eye.  I posted it on Instagram and said I'm going to need 16 rolls of this and I wasn't kidding, I love it!

Sadly the last little bits from the Olympics.  I had thought of putting photos from the closing ceremonies but opted to just put in the final medal count and type up some words on the closing ceremonies.  Thanks again Erica Hernandez for the amazing journaling cards you did for the Olympics.  I sure loved using them the past few weeks!

Some new Twinkle Toes for Simone, she's wanted them for awhile now and I found them at Nordstrom Rack so I was happy not to pay full price.  Light up shoes are expensive!

A simple shot of our dinner out to our local Chinese food place.  I used a google map for the background but added my own geotag and text.

A snap of Kelly Purkey's latest stamps to arrive a shot of some of the papers Simone is bringing home this year from school.  The reality of Kindergarten is fast approaching.

I opted to use the bottom two slots here for our day in Tahoe, I had a lot to include and didn't want to do an insert or a flip up.  I set up a 12 x 4 canvas and added my photos and just printed it out as two 6x4 pictures.

Just like for Tahoe I used the top two slots for our day in San Francisco when we dropped off our family at the airport.

Instagram did an update last week, while I love the look I'm not happy with some of the changes, hopefully it will get better.

Oh my, so needed that day in the salon, getting old sure sucks!

I did a massive clean up and purging of old toys while Simone was at school on Friday, it was so needed and felt so good after.

Saturday Simone did a head stand for the first time!  Totally on her own too.

My nephew left for college on Saturday, his whole family took him up to get settled.  The cute drawing was done by his girlfriend, she is amazingly talented and will certainly miss him while he's gone.  I cannot believe he's in college already, seems like just yesterday...

Saturday night we went to a benefit concert at Fairytale Town to see Jackie Greene.  It was a great time and Simone's first concert, that she will probably forget.  The music was great and it was a perfect summer evening.

Thanks for stopping by, I'm off to have fun with my mom!

My mommy is coming

My mom is coming to visit tomorrow and we can't wait to see her!  She was here this past December for our whirlwind Disney trip and Simone's birthday so this visit will be more low key.  We have lots of sewing projects planned so its nice that she's driving down so she can bring her two machines.  Mom is an expert quilter and all around fantastic sewer so it will be great to have her help with some projects, the main one being light control in my desk/craft area.  It's the final step to the space remodel so I'm excited to see it done.
Simone of course is totally jazzed to see Grandma, it will sure help soften the blow of missing her cousins so badly.
We may just have to pop into a photo studio to get an update on this photo, July 2009 seems like ages ago.

Look how little my baby is, so sweet!

The City by the Bay

Sadly it was time to say goodbye to our family so on Wednesday we loaded up the car and headed to San Francisco which is where their flight was departing from.  We left after Simone got out of school and made it to San Francisco around 3:00pm.  They were taking a red eye so we had plenty of time to kill so we parked down by Pier 39 to hang out for a few hours.  Man was it cold, it's amazing what a difference a few miles west could mean, I mean you'd think I would be used to the summers in San Francisco having been raised in the Bay Area but give a girl a few years of heat and she becomes a total sissy!

The day was clear and blue despite the temp and the wind, it sure made for some fabulous photo opps of the Bay Bridge driving down Harrison Street.

Pier 39 was busy as it usually is in the summer, so we walked around all the shops and had a late lunch at the place that's famous for their shrimp.  Larry hated his lunch but mine was okay.  The girls bought some San Francisco swag at the souvenir stores and of course we had to stop off for some mini donuts.  It's a must stop for sure.

I mean, nothing beats a hot fresh donut.

Of course we had to walk down to the end of the pier for photo opps with the rest of the tourists and man was it cold and windy.  I wonder what the tourists think coming from all over the world for an amazing summer vacation, I'm guessing the guide books don't tell them "by the way you'll freeze your ass off" because it seems like they're all wearing brand new San Francisco sweatshirts with their shorts.

Oh and be warned that if you asked your 15 year old niece to take a photo for you with your phone, this is probably what you'll end up with on your camera roll...

We miss you already, come back soon!

Project Life - Week 32

Somehow I managed to eek out a bit of time on Monday to get this past weeks pages done.  Thanks for being patient with me while I have family in town, I know my blog has been neglected.

Here is the spread for the week, I have an insert which you'll see later.

Here is the left side up close

I loved this set of London sketches I found at Design House Digital and wanted to use it as the title card.  I added the rings myself, it was not part of the set.

Loved these cut out cards from Erica Hernandez.

Lots of regular summer fun and shopping with my sister in law and nieces this week.

Cousins playing and super hot temperatures.

Pedicures for me and my sister in law this past week.  I saw the idea of the neon coral and cheetah design on Pinterest, love it!

We had lunch at our local Ice Cream shop, so full from lunch no ice cream for me that time.

I did the insert for our Yosemite trip we took on Tuesday.  I used one of the new design H plastics for it.  This insert went together really quickly which I like.  I do the inserts last so I'm usually pretty much done and its nice when it comes together quickly.

Since it was the last week of the Olympics I opted to do a collage of some of the women's events that I saw.  The ladies sure did an amazing job this year!  The card is from Erica Hernandez, I just made it into a 6x4 card.

Thursday Larry and I went to Tahoe for a concert and instead of doing another collage I tried something new.  There was a lot of trial and error with this but it came together okay.  I had to cut a slit in the protector to feed the tabs for the flip ups since the photos are positioned about an inch from the top of the protector.  They all measure 2.75" square. I forgot to round the corners on the main card but since I can't take it out it will stay that way.

I added a text slot for the Olympic collage above and I loved the Forest Gump graphic on swackett this past week.

My sister in law bought me this super cute sequined ipad case and a photo of me and Larry from Saturday.

More about Friday, and our trip home from Tahoe.

Saturday was wicked hot here so we spent all day in the pool.  We also watched the meteor shower that night which was awesome!

I hope you have a great rest of the week, thanks for stopping by.
