Project Life 2013 - week 52

It's done, I can't believe it! These albums were such a joy to work on, I really pushed myself to try many new things and to trust my gut on what it should look like and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out.

Here is the final week;

The spread came together with many leftover elements from both the Copper Mountain Project Life Kit and the Storm King add-on, both from Studio Calico. It seriously bugs me that there are typos on one card and since its the only one I have they have to stay...

The calendar page is from a new calendar that I purchased for 2014 that actually started with November 2013. I kept the two months that I tore off and realized they were the perfect size so hello title card.  I added two veneer brackets from Studio Calico that I embossed with Gold Glitter Zing.

I love that many of the photos I used here were already in my December Daily so the edits were pretty much done for me, I really only had to edit for size and print.

Because my spread went a bit long so I could end on the 31st I needed some extra room so I made an insert using the Design G protector.  I love this size, it's the perfect mix of horizontal, vertical and some 3x4's.

Last year was the first year that I closed my album with a year in numbers review. I loved it and decided to do it again this year.  Plus I loved this photo from our family photo shoot and it was the perfect choice to use for this. It doesn't take that long to count everything up and its super fun to see how the numbers changed vs. last year.   I'm having it printed as we speak so when its all done I'll cut this 12x12 image into the proper sections to fit into the back of my last page.  When its done I'll add another photo of it inside the protector.

here's a snap I posted on Instagram of me doing the counting this past Sunday during the football game.

Here is a look at the print after it was cut and placed in the protector.  I ended up cutting some plain cardstock that was a bit larger than 4 x 6 because the slots are a tiny smidgen bigger.  Because of that my photo was not lining up the way I liked and was looking off.  Having the 4 1/8" x 6 1/8" bases helped a lot for tightening up the alignment.  I made sure to attach those four sections to the very edge of the cardstock along the middle and top or bottom edge.  The center section of 4 x 3 photos were just slide into the protector as is.

I also had large size prints made for the last page of my volume one

and the first page of my volume two.

I haven't started anything for 2014 yet, not even my title page.  I needed a break and plan to get right back into it later this week so I'll post all of that soon.

As far as I know I'll keep the same plan in place as I did last year but who knows what might happen when I actually sit down to work on it.

Today I'm just relishing in the joy of these completed albums and how much fun it is to look back on the year and see all that we did, it certainly was a really great year.

Studio Calico Copper Mountain full reveal

Studio Calico's January kits, Copper Mountain are now available for presale for subscribers!  All links shared here and below will be active for subscribers as of now and active for non subscribers tonight at midnight EST.

This being my first month on the design team I had no idea what to expect when my package arrived.  Needless to say it was a bit surreal and oh so exciting to grab that box when it arrived.

I had so much fun with all of the products and made two Project Life® spreads with the contents.  For my main kit only spread (Copper Mountain) I worked with my week 50 photos, the one where my daughter turned 6.  As you can see below I went super sized for the right hand side and used this months digital template. In fact this spread has several digital elements mixed in with some of my most favorite cards from the main kit.  I mean that heart card, it was a must use for sure as was the black quote card, it paired perfectly with my photo for the design team announcement.

I interviewed my daughter six months ago on her half birthday and I loved her responses to the questions so on her birthday I asked her the same questions and these were her answers. It was the perfect pair for the large photo and the puffy asterisks were the perfect accent to use here.  It also really helped tie this side of the spread to the left because the colors of the asterisks match the heart card perfectly.  Not to mention the adorable wood veneer in the kit, I just love the font especially the little flouncy bits on some of the letters.

For my second spread I used the two, yes you heard that correct we now have two add-ons for the Project Life® kits starting in January (Union Meadows and Storm King).  I loved the colors and they just tied in so well with my Week 49 photos and our trip to Lake Tahoe.  This spread below uses elements from both of the add-ons.

There were so many great quote cards included in the two add-ons and they worked so well with the photos they ended up being a great compliment.

This watercolor card had to happen for the title, the blue just matched so well with my Lake Tahoe picture and helped draw the blue to the right side for some balance. I just stamped the dates in gold ink and added a few more puffy asterisks and it was done, super fast and easy.

I loved the hashtag cards and really loved incorporating them in.  Studio Calico must be inside my head when they design these kits because they always seem to have just the right cards for my lifestyle, its just such a great match.

There are also some very, very cute shop items this month that I made sure to pick up for myself.

I mean how cute is this little Valentine's Day pack...you can find it here.

And these super cute calendar cards that Marcy designed, you get four of each so you'll have more than enough to included them each week if you wanted to.  I will definitely be adding these into my project life spreads for 2014.

If you prefer to label your spreads by week number, there is even a super cute option for that as well.  Also designed by Marcy these week number cards are a perfect option.

I cannot wait to continue on with Project Life® and cannot wait to see what amazing things Studio Calico has in store for us with their kits.  After seeing what they did with January, I expect really great things.  If you haven't yet subscribed now is the perfect time, you can do so right here.

Thank you Elle's Studio

So I haven't shared a Project Life® spread in a while and the reason is the last week I completed I did for Elle's Studio.  I am their guest designer for December! Exciting stuff!  Here is a link to Elle's Designer Gallery where you can see all the stuff that her team made this month, its all pretty fabulous.

Here is what I made for her;

Her November kit was full of great stuff for a Thanksgiving spread and it was a lot of fun to work with.

This title card came with just the November printed on it.  I found a similar font and added the rest myself and just printed it right on her card.

I also did two layouts, this one using her super cute December kit that just went on sale today along with parts of her Noel line.

The second layout was using her boy themed kit, Cameron.

Thanks so much Elle for having me, it sure was a lot of fun!

Project Life 2013 - weeks 45 and 46

I love traveling but I hate being behind and since I was you're getting two weeks for the price of one. I apologize in advance for all the photos and for the less than stellar photos too. My camera is in the shop getting tuned and repaired.  Remember that lens issue I thought I was having, well I was.  It's a mess.  Hoping to get it all back and brand new like before Thanksgiving.

I'll keep the commentary to a minimum so here are the spreads...

It was a big week, of course the tooth falls out the night before I'm leaving on a trip and I was not ready, par for the course I suppose but we pulled out a win in the end.  A super big day for my brother, love him so much and so proud to share his special days with him.

Some snaps from the trip and our return flight was epic, it will be hard to beat. We started our trip to Disneyland at the end of this week so just a bit of it here.

I missed a game while I was gone and of course she scored two goals.  Why she waits for one of us to be gone to score I don't know, maybe she feels less pressure, who knows.  These pics were snapped by my friend at an indoor clinic the girls are doing and I love them so it was nice to have something to include for the week.

Here is Week 46, I managed to get 45 pictures into the main spread (not counting the insert) which I think is a new personal best for me.

Since the main part of our trip was the four days it worked great to use the right side for each day.  One slot of journaling and one large 4x6 that flips out for each days photos.  The left side were photos from the trip that I wanted to highlight in case someone doesn't want to look at all the flip ups, in essence some of my faves.

The little epoxy days of the week banners that came in the recent Studio Calico Cuppa Project Life Kit were perfect for my journaling cards.  I made the little paper pieces to fit underneath mimicking the cut of the epoxy pieces and just attached them to my printed journaling with a tiny attacher.

Here are two of the cards flipped out so you can see.  I just made 4x6 collages and attached them to the cardstock fold out piece.  If you want info on how I do the flip outs, you can see my tutorial here. It's the same technique just a different size.

I made some changes to the main spread after I posted it to Instagram and moved my one photo from Friday night to the insert because it was related to our end of the season soccer party. Our final game was Saturday morning and it was a win for our team. It was a really great season and we look forward to continuing with this crazy crew as we move indoors.

With all this said I'm happy to be back on track, I have quite a few projects that need to get done before the end of the month, especially December Daily.  You'll be seeing me back in no time with more to share.

Have a great week!

Project Life 2013 - week 44

The main focus this week was Halloween, I ended up using the entire right side for it which means it was a super photo heavy spread.  In fact there was only two cards and the rest were photos.  Thankfully I didn't have an abundance of photos to fill the left side so it made it easy.

Hello fireside cartoons, hello shopping, hello pizza, hello family photos, hello hilariousness from Simone, hello fawn, hello lake and hello gratitude.  The title card was a way to tie in the Halloween photos and our little witch.

And hello one heck of a crazy Halloween day for us. Luckily by nightfall everything had worked itself out and she had a really great night.

Here is the soccer insert for the week, it was a really great game and the girls did a really great job. Simone got to play goalie which she loves and after the game we snapped a shot of the team for the coaches.

Have a great rest of the week!
