Project Life - Week 38

Another week done, I really wasn't happy as I was working on this weeks spread, I wasn't liking what I was doing at all but pushed through and ended up happy with the overall.  Some slots are not my favorite but it is what it is.  Sometimes you just have to push through and move on.

Here is the full spread

Since it was the first day of Autumn this past week I thought something fall themed would be appropriate for the title card.  The tree was a print and cut file for the Silhouette Cameo.  Super easy, love the print and cuts.

Simone went to a birthday party last weekend, lots of fun for her for sure.

A few random bits from the week.

A super fun contest on Instagram from Studio Calico and some tasty mini ice creams from Trader Joe's.

Simone's first trip to the dentist, she did great!

Shopping trip to Trader Joe's when we got the above little ice creams.  Simone loved the little carts and wanted to put certain things in hers, mostly the yummy stuff!

Big Brother 14 finale this past week.  Sad its over, sad Dan didn't win but still a great season.

I took Simone clothes shopping this past week.  I loved the photo of her with the family of mannequin's they have when you enter the store.  I used the size stickers again like I've done before.  A fun way to show how she's grown.

I updated my iPad and iPhone this week with the new software, and we played with some girl Lego's, I think I like them just as much as Simone does.

A cute text from my niece and a lazy Saturday.

The highlight of the week for sure what the Shuttle, I made a little flip up for the day.

The inside has the words from my blog post and some photos from the zoo field trip.

And lastly the first day of fall.  Like I said below (with a typo that I've fixed), someone needs to remind Mother Nature what day it is, so crazy warm here still.  I'm ready for some cooler temps for sure!

Thanks for stopping by!

Shuttle Endeavour

We knew it was happening when we set off this morning for Simone's school field trip to the zoo.  We saw the people lining over passes in our town and all along the freeway, we hoped just maybe if we got to the zoo in time we might catch a glimpse as it flew by.  Especially since the park is near the state capitol and that's where it was headed.

We got to the zoo around 9:15am, it was clearly field trip day because there were tons of people.  It wasn't just Simone's class it was all the classes from our preschool system plus students from other elementary schools nearby.  There had to be at least 100 people standing around in the park outside the zoo.  There are also a lot of trees in the park so we had pretty much assumed there was no way we were going to see it.  I felt so bad for Larry, I knew he really wanted to see it but just didn't think it was going to happen.

I don't know what time it was but I heard a bunch of people cheering and looked over and there it was, it flew right over our heads, super slow and super low.  I ran, trying to dig my camera out of my bag as fast as I could, by the time I got there, this is what I got as it flew away.  Everyone in the crowd was cheering, I had goose bumps and tears in my eyes.  Who would have thought.  A once in a lifetime chance to see a space shuttle fly by.  I was so happy I saw it I just wished I had a chance to catch a better shot.

Luck would have it I was given a chance, after the plane flew over the Capital it came by again right over our heads, super slow and super low.  This time I was ready and managed a few better shots.

What an amazing day, everyone at the zoo was talking about it even the guy who operated the train ride mentioned it.  I'm so happy I had a chance to see it.  Simone was just amazed, I think it surprised her but at the end of the field trip the train ride and the space shuttle were at the top of her list of cool things she saw today.

Project Life - Week 37

Another full week, lots of stuff to include which was great, even added a insert.

Here is the full spread minus the insert

and the left side

I loved this new paper that came in the Studio Calico card kit this month. I love the stitch pattern.  I added a few little bits and called it done.  Took forever to decide on the bits though so don't go thinking this came together in seconds more that minutes, like 20 minutes.  Sometimes its hard to decide if somethings is right or not.

This launch at Target actually got me up and out of the house pretty early on Sunday, I really wanted that cutting board and also came home with the set of dish towels.  I resisted everything else!

Family came over Sunday for a swim, loved this picture of my niece and Simone sharing the floaty, and my super red face, post bike ride.

Larry went in search of the big bike trail and found it, loved the picture he texted me.

Clearly the weather is unaware of the date and we had super summer like conditions this past week.

Some shots from the first week of soccer that you saw already.

9/11, had to include something and I was so happy to see this graphic on the Swackett weather app, way to go Swackett people.  I included my facebook post and my IG comments from the day.

Here is the insert, all about the big day!  I used a Becky Higgins 6x12 insert for the first time and liked it.  The front was easy, the back was two 6x6 photo collages I made in PSE and printed on my regular printer (on photo paper).  I just adhered them to the back of the cardstock and added a little row of rhinestones to hide the spot where they were joined.

Here is the right side

A few shots of what Simone is loving right now, thanks Grandma T for the sticker book, it was a big hit!

A shot from the wedding rehearsal on Thursday night.

A few random bits, lately I've had a match for every pair of Simone's socks when doing laundry, I wonder how long that will continue.

Glee was back this week, didn't love the episode but hoping it picks up as the season progresses.  Not sure if I like the kids being separated like they are.

My phone completely wigged out on me and went all kinds of crazy so I had to back it up and restore it.  Which of course opened up a whole other can of worms with my computer migration and my itunes library so the fix ended up taking a few hours.

The little card came with an order of stamps I got from my Insta friend, Nicole.

I'm so ready for the holidays to come and I've been agonizing about purchasing the December Daily kit from Studio Calico, I loved last years kit but didn't love this years, the size was throwing me off so I had many conversations with myself about not buying it if I didn't love it, so I restrained.  Happily my favorite designer hinted this past week that she was making her own kit!  I'm so excited to see what she puts together and was happy to hear while we tweeted about it that my size issues won't be a concern with her kit.

This past Saturday had me back at Target and happily I found my favorite fall candy, have you had these, OMG they are delish!  So happy to see the approach of all things fall, I'm ready!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great rest of the week!

The Flower Girl 2.0

This past Friday was our nieces wedding and Simone was asked to be the flower girl.  Her second time in her very short 4.75 years.

We arrived early for pictures and slipped Simone into her dress.  I snapped these photos while waiting for the official photographer to do her thing.

I did her hair, something I'm not super comfortable doing but I found a style that was supposed to look a little messy and then added lots of flowers and rhinestones to cover the not so great bits.  Everyone loved it so that was good, score one for mommy!

After the photographer took the pictures with the bride and bridesmaids Simone came back with much better poses.  Can you say SASSY!

The wedding was at sunset and the setting was lovely.  Larry helped the groom make the cross and it was such a nice touch.

She takes her work very seriously...

I loved this one, Simone watching the bride walk down the aisle.

The wedding party all together after the ceremony.

and Simone with the happy couple.

It really was a lovely wedding, we wish you all the best K & L! XOXO

Call me soccer mom...

Simone started soccer this past Monday evening.  She was super excited to go and had an absolute blast.

One of her school friends lent us a pair of cleats and we bought her the shin guards, socks and shorts.  Larry bought her the ball awhile back when we initially signed her up and she's been practicing in the back yard.

I took these shots out back before we left.  They were going to issue a team shirt when we arrived but I think the pink looked cute.

Thankfully the team shirts were white, since it was so hot Monday night and there is pretty much no shade near the field.  There were quite a few kids on hand for the academy and a few from her preschool class which is great.  It's nice that we can hang out as families together.  They are still a bit too young to be on the team so this year they started this program for the 4 year olds to get them ready for next year.  She's got the one foot on the ball pose down nicely!

She took right to it and had a blast kicking the ball around even before the practice started.

These shots were during practice they basically had them dribble down field for awhile to get used to the ball.

We were so proud, she jumped right in, listened well, and waited patiently for her turn.  She cannot wait for next week, and guess what neither can I!

Way to go Simone!
